Joseph I. Mishkin

Joseph is a certified Foreign Legal Consultant and participates in the Florida office in such capacity. He practices Venezuelan law in the fields of labor, business, corporate finance and bankruptcy law, as well as commercial and civil litigation. His experience includes legal services for individuals, companies and family offices, as well as for foreign global and domestic companies doing business worldwide and in Venezuela. 

During his extensive professional career, Joseph has been directly involved in multiple collective bargaining processes, representing both local and global companies in negotiations with labor unions. He has participated in various high profile bankruptcies, civil creditor arrangements and litigation, for both domestic and global conglomerates doing business in Venezuela and Latin America.

Prior to joining Velegal Pllc,  Joseph was a partner at a Venezuelan middle market law firm, where he was the Senior Managing Director. 

Notable Representations:

  • Represented the Venezuelan Textile Federation (1986-2008) in the negotiations and signing of the collective contracts binding the entire Venezuelan textile and spinning industry. 
  • Represented the largest textile conglomerate in Venezuela (1982-1995) in the litigation of its bankruptcies, and negotiations of other creditor related arrangements. 
  • Represented the Venezuelan Textile Industries first successful cooperative negotiations with the Government. 
  • Served as President of the Board of Trustees of the International School of Caracas, and legal counsel to the Association of International Schools of Latin America.

Awards:

  • Granted the Presidential Medal “Orden del Merito al Trabajo” in 1986.
